Predator Free 2050 Limited is a Crown-owned, charitable company established to help deliver the New Zealand government’s ambitious goal of eradicating possums, stoats and rats by 2050.

We provide co-funding to enable predator control and eradication projects at large landscape scale and the breakthrough science needed to underpin them.

We occasionally solicit expressions of interest from iwi, community and council-led groups, assess them against criteria, work with other funders and develop contracts to enable delivery.

We are currently funding 18 large landscape projects, over 750,000 hectares across a mix of rural and
urban geographies. Already, over 55,000 hectares have been cleared and are now being defended using a suite of tools and technology developed and brought to market through
Predator Free 2050 Limited’s Products to Projects funding. We are investing $75.6 million towards total project costs.

We are also funding breakthrough science guided by our Research Strategy.

The Predator Free movement is having fantastic biodiversity gains for Aotearoa but it’s also about more than just the birds, we are seeing social and economic benefits too. The Goal that Unites a Country is a collection of interviews with influential Kiwis who have their own perspectives on why PF2050 is so important for their communities.
