In 2019, Predator Free 2050 Limited funded students conducting possum, rat and mustelid fieldwork projects in landscapes across New Zealand, where increased knowledge will better guide eradication attempts.
One of the successful applicants, PhD student Nimeshika Pattabiraman has now completed an investigation of gene flow among brushtail possum populations in Aotearoa, showing us how they mix and interbreed.
Nimeshika’s work has featured in the Manawatu Guardian today.
