Embedded Research Expressions of Interest Sought
September 5, 2023 1:26 pm
Predator Free 2050 Limited is inviting brief ‘Expressions of Interest’ for new and improved approaches that help projects eradicating predators to ‘detect the last animal’ and ‘improve tool efficacy’. EOIs should be submitted using the template provided by 5 pm on Wednesday 20 September 2023.
Background
Predator Free 2050 Limited is an independent Crown owned company that has been established to help achieve the Government’s ambitious goal to rid New Zealand of possums, rats and mustelids by 2050 (www.pf2050.co.nz). These introduced predators are key contributors to the decline of our natural heritage, with 3000 of our native species classified as threatened or at risk.
Predator Free 2050 Limited supports 18 large landscape predator management projects around the country, being delivered by Iwi, council, and community-led groups with a focus on achieving predator eradication.
The Embedded Research Collective is a consortium of those 18 projects and key other parties, formed as part of a larger effort towards collaboration in the predator free system. Its primary purpose is to enable the landscape projects to identify, prioritise and commission applied research (to be collaboratively conducted on-site with them) that will help them achieve their Predator Free goals.
Call for Expressions of Interest
The Embedded Research Collective is newly formed in 2023 and is now conducting its pilot research funding round process (up to a total of $120,000 disbursed) of which this call for EOIs is the next step. Larger funding rounds are expected to be held subsequently, dependent on future funding availability. With permission, all EOIs submitted will be held on file and reassessed in the event of such availability.
